Busy bees

Hi,
I am squeezing in an update instead of watching BB as tomorrow is big twist night to a degree. I am disappointed though. I really didn't think Nikki should have been evicted but her, Sam, Spiral, Susie etc were outed and so it should be. I also thought Susie made a brilliant house mate. No, not just because she loved tea, in fact that would make her my nemesis really as a real threat to global stocks, but she was true to herself and added a calming effect to the house that is quite deranged. Anyho, on to other things.

It seems a matter of course to now update blogs with an element of "I'm sorry for the lack of up dates but i have been terribly busy securing world peace, resurecting the Do-do and curing maleria" for which I am guilty of also! And i tell you, that D0-do was a hard one to crack! Espacailly as Allie scoffed the first prototype and the second batch flew in to our lovely new windows breaking their little don't-don't necks.

Well, my real reasons have been incredibly dull. I have been working away at my diploma - exams in Novemenber and the portfilio is due in October if I want to be 'ratified' by Februray. As with all first year stuff, there's the bits I like - sources of law, legal systems etc and the bits I don't - contract law, tort etc. Its a bit like doing History at GCSE again with all these cases to memorise and to jumble in to a rude acromym! To be fair, my largest commitment towards the qualification has been holding down the food at Somerset where our residentials are located - really how can some people get cooking so wrong with such exceptional consistancy? We suspect that the only thing keeping the 'Motel-hotel' alive is the business from the course provider. We're not back till September and then the last part in October so it will be no doubt more battles for central heating and hot water! There seems to be an ironey in studying the Human Rights Act by day only to be so violated by night.

Well, as I hinted in my previous blog, when its not the study which is now forming the main part of my evenings and weekends, its DIY. I am quietly enjoy to be fair. Mainly as I am very very slow. a session with the masking tape, gloss and drill usually begins by the careful selection of suitable attire, then music - something mellow, sing-along-able and of a steady tempo. Then to the planning. My most major (and still ongoing) project has been the panic room. I have now taken down the ceiling, treated the walls and am currently levelling the floor. I purchased the new ceiling i.e. plasterboard and nails and just need the time now to get going on that. As a general extension of the flats theme the main colour scheme is white with dark laminate floor. I am leaving a large section of the brickwork 'bare' as it looks rather nice. I am now at the stage of seeing the proverbial wood from the trees and I am really pleased with the way its coming on. the fact that it will be solely used for storing my now rather large collection of DIY tools and ironmongory (is that the right word - I mean nails, screws, raw plugs etc) as that is becoming a collection that is getting majorly out of hand seems a shame - but never mind. Actually it is being partially used as an additional study so Helen can use the computer and i can get on with my work.

Wow - tesco home delievery, which i imagine is the same standard as Sainsburies, Asda etc but my gosh - why have we not done this before. There is nothing false of the economy that is someone doing your shopping, putting it in bags and taking it to your door! Sheer joy! helen is quite good at food shopping but I am awful. I haven't got that far from the fresh section that boredom has sunk in. I have to admit it, i behave worse then a child. by the time we reach the bakery i am asking helen if i can just sit in the car or having a tantrum because i can't find helen. By the frozen section anything and everything is being shoved in just to bring a conclusion to the trama. And then to the check-out. HELLO! IF I WANTED TO BAG MY VEG UP, I WOULD HAVE!!! Check out time is also the classic point that the shower gel reveals its flawed screw cap and you realised the five things we simply had to buy above all else are absent from the conveyor belt and a mad Supermarket sweep ensues by one of us. What i will say is that shopping home delievery is not the environmental choice that the supermarkets promote it as - which my driver revealed saying he'd been past the flat a number of times and decided not to call (not sure what made him decide that) but it would have been easier if he had dropped if earlier. I'd imagine normally that the shopping is divided up a bit better and he was just having an off day.

we have cancelled or put on hold our lovefilm.com subscription as we are not getting as much time and therefore value. That said we did pop to blockbusterthis weekend and rented the League of gentleman 'apocolayspe' (good, but a bit silly), the Machinist (looking forward to that) and something with Al Pacino (Helen's choice as I was having a random hot flush and wanted out - although Helen is the superior film selector so i am sure it will be good. been doing a lot of reading too - its like a warm down really! I want go on too much as Helen and I have been reading the same books and again, I am sure she will give a much more accurate and articulate account.

I am completely out the musical loop aside from the new addition of the Lily Allen, Sway and the Kooks albums to our collection - oh and Peaches and Thom Yorkes new ones too. I have had a recent change on my MP3 - which is of the 1GB capacity and I have been meaning to update for a while. I have updated with the outdated and am merrily walking to work to the sounds of belle and Sebastian, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, Zutons, Mercury Rev and Bjork amongts some others including the strangely brilliant Stoosh.

well, I think thats more then enough from me. I hope everyone is well,

Love

Kat x
