Will the passangers too tight to use heathrow express please give up their seats to weary commuters subsiding this service

Inspired by Amy's stroll through unrelated but always funny musings in her latest blog, I thought it high time I put tip to key and blogged again with a view of some degree of consistency in future as there has been some big old gaps of late.

So, what have Helgarama and I been up to (or Captain Fantastic and Stardust dweeb - which is our new names as inspired by our pajamas). A lot, or at least feels likes that but a flick through the diary says otherwise! October was relatively uneventful other then a nice weekend with Marie and Gary-Claire (TM) to see Boeing Boeing. It was an unexpected extended stay as Helen/Stardust Dweeb fell ill to a mystery disease that according to an unhelpful lady in the toilets of a restaurant was the cause of the epidemic of deaths at the local hospital (nothing to do with it being the third worse in the country then?). And of course birthday celebrations which was brilliantly - so thank you all for a fab day and evening :)

I sat my exams and I think they went ok - thank you M and G*C for hospitality that meant I was only down the road from the exam centre. We were meant to travel to Pompey "land of hopes and dreams" on that weekend but sadly our super powers were zapped from us and we were struck down by our arch-enemy Lady Flu (or known in the inner circle as the Common Cold). We did however make it down the weekend after and it had its highs and lows! (is that ok to sum it up like that Chris?). Dad's new house looks amazing and definitely inspired by noted interior designer Madam Balch the second.

And so, just like that we come to last week - saw a dire play at the National - Women of Troy (a radical re-working - why didn't we see that as the warning sign?) it was so awful it was funny (sort of) that was some genuinely desperate tragic moments, stripping actresses (you don't expect bush for a fiver) and the climax including a random pregnant lady walking backwards along the whole length of the stage! We went to a lovely tapas bar before hand and got home in 45 mins from Waterloo as our train was about to leave and the next one was in 50 mins so it was a good job well done. As it seems our sign of aging is the plays we are seeing far out weigh the gigs, we saw Les Mis only a few days later which was fantastic despite the lack of bush. We do have a gig to attend soon so looking forward to that (here's a warning sign like never before - we are seeing them as Helen is a fan of the lead vocalist who is more famous as an actress and even more famous for dating kd Lang, they have not produced an album and I know none of their songs!).

The best news is we are going on the market tomorrow! You can probably guess just how thrilled we are about this. We have seen a place we like too in Leyton that we are seeing again on Thursday and intend to give some serious thought.

Work is both going well for us both - Helen is really enjoying her new job which I am pleased about and she looks very smart in the mornings bless her (when she gets home is another story). So life is really treating us well. We hope to be on the move soon as you can imagine and looking forward to being closer to work which means more time at home and living somewhere that is a bit more vibrant. We are definitely considering a house-chilling party so watch this space.

Well, Allie has just come in smelling of a bonfire so I shall sign off and make sure she is evenly crispy.

Hope all are well.

Love Kat x

OMG

Strangers is two years old!

The willies!

Wow, I know I am a bit feckless when it comes to the horror genre - but Amy's choice of birthday fun was a big slilce of hell! Weirdly enjoyable, I sort of recommend the Woman in Black - but not to people like me. I have been trying to explain to colleauges today how it can be scary without a obligatory gore and CGI but with the aid of a rocking chair, a few basic sound effects and an amazing acting the stage can be a very dark scary place. I got the heebee geebees early Sunday morning when I woke in the night to have a quick stop to the little girls room (why is my bladder so small!) and didn't quite shut the door to the bedroom on the way back - I couldn't bring myself to shut it in case the woman in black slung it open again, but knew I had to (4am logic says ghosts only go through open doors). As with situations of the willies, normally induced by some horroric nightmare, I woke up Helen for one of our near world famous morning chats we have disturb millions with.

Sunday was a day well spent doing filing until the shredder broke - horray! How boring is filing and why have i kept all the MOT certs for all the cars I have ever owned and other such useless but daren't through away paper work (I also did 5 hours of revision - the filing was a treat). Saw the stupidly brilliant BLack Sheep - a NZ film about zombie sheet that was quietly brilliant and totally recommended!

And so back to work, novelty has worn off slightly - I am tired already! Getting to know people better and yes, making friends :)

Hope all are well,
Love

New beginings

Well i am safely half way through my first week in my new job. First two days were incredibly dull - induction stuff, nerves and meeting so many people that I am being re-introduced forgetting I had already met them. Day two was however more exciting due to a post code worthy spot that randomly came up mid-morning (full of nervous dust I am sure) that I had to perform emergency surgery on and the small matter of my zipper breaking on my trousers. I decided that faking IBS was a better plan then flashing my pants on that one.

The commute is fine - in fact pretty cool as I get to travel in with Miss F who also has had some great news on the job front and will be joining the RNID in November. yay!

The hardest thing so far is dealing with the fact I know no one that well - I left some great mates behind in Hounslow after three years there but I am hoping I will stay in touch - randomly, Nishi did turn up yesterday at 9pm and I will also be seeing my boys Ranj and Raj in Basildon for the exams (someone needs to point out to the trading standards institute that Basildon is not a London borough! or even in side the M25 - never mind 2 hours both way to an exam can only do me good). Revision is proving a bit of a mountain - I am sitting two exams, the credit I am finding easier then safety but even still I have that nagging feeling nothing is going in. Anyho, I am going to have some dinner, wash my hair and carry on with the revision (or vision as it feels like) and wait for the little light in my life to come home as she is meeting with some friends after work (I declined on the grounds that i must at least pretend I am studying).

I hope all are well - the Toves are back - no doubt sickeningly brown!

See you all soon,
Katty x

The good times have come to end

The last blog was on the 20th of August and although that's only a mere six weeks ago, a lot has happened, including wedding of the year. Usually with such lengths in between blogs I do tend to rattle on, so I shall try and limit this blog and blog a little bit more regularly.

Helen and I went on an awesome holiday to Wales - substitute awesome for relaxing - although we did some extreme hill climbing! We went away to mark 5 years together which is pretty cool considering what a nag I am and what a 'half-a-job' Helen is.

At the beginning of September we had a mega weekend - substitute mega for very busy. Went to Nishi's for a delicious dinner in the evening of no less then 6 different dishes for the main course. Then that evening, partly due to the A3 and my madness, we drove down to the land of hopes and dreams (Pompey of course) to help Mum with some DIY and by chance, a meeting with Norman - the now deceased previous keeper of my Dad's new house. For Christine's sake who got the willies so bad there was nearly two Mr Chris's he is of course not real. But somebody let Allie out of our room and led her to the open window in the adjoining bedroom! Anyway, I told Norman that if he misses with Allie during our stay, I will nobble his spiritual knees and that seemed to work.

I then went away to Ashford again, leading us up to the weekend of the 15th, aka wedding of the year. I don't want to keep reiterating what other's have said, but it really was such a lovely day! Sully spent the whole weekend with us too which made it all the more fun on the Friday and the Sunday.

Off I went to Ashford again for the ninth and last time - I made some really nice friends on the courses which is nice so will miss that in a way, but won't miss leaving Helen! On the weekend we went to the Globe to see the Merchant of Venice. I was shocked that such an anti-semantic play had survived, is being a play by Shakespeare enough to justify it - or is it also a useful reminder of the past?

This takes us to my last week at Hounslow. I have been there for over 3 years now, with a brief month or so sabbatical about halfway. I made some fantastic friends and a major enemy near the end (as did everyone else I might add!) - I had a brilliant leaving do with the usual silliness you might expect from me! Well, that pretty much takes us to today - I had my final lay-in (until 11.45 when I was ordered out of bed), read the Saturday supplements, did some last minute shopping and am now sat here. Allie is belching away not so lady-like in style having just scoffed some fancy cat food Helen bought. Oh - the title of the blog - good times coming to an end. Well, its been a fairly well known fact that I can eat what I like and not put on any weight - until now. Ron thinks its to do with me giving up caffeine - what ever it is, I have gained a stone since my last blog, my clothes are tight if not fitting at all and I have shocking meat cravings. I am glad I am not in the 'at risk' group for pregnancy as I would be right royally worried now!

I shall sign off now - hopefully I will blog fairly soon, but I have exams coming up in Nov so I should really keep my head down until then.

Lots of love

Kat x
