Gosh well would you believe it – Skoda Rage Incident™ Four and befallen Percy! For those who aren’t up to date:
SRI1: Bus hits Percy when he’s parked up for the night
SRI2: Car reverses and dents Percy in a multi-storey in Stratford
SRI3: Tire slashed on the day of London Bombings – personally that one has to be my favourite – really nice!
So, to the tale of woe that is SRI4:
At 18:15 whilst cautiously commuting home down Hackney Road (aka Titty Mile) I came to a controlled stop at some red traffic lights and as the #55 bus pulled in to the left lane next to me I uttered the fateful words to Helen “ohh, he’s a little close”.
Well, as the lights sequenced into Amber the bus pulled away and although technically in a straight line – his chosen pathway was at angle hitting Percy straight-away. He held his path – I still remained stationary, as I wasn’t really sure what to do other then honk and SNAP – bye bye wing mirror that I shall now baptise as Beaver! Anyho, bus drivers are very busy people and understandably instead of pulling over and exchanging details, he was true to his post and continued his rounds. I started a mobile circus of honking and as phrased in the independent witness statement of Derek “started flashing my likes” – well, what is a girl to do – I wanted him to pull over!!
Anyway, he pulled over in the end – no not to exchange details, but to let off a passenger so I rather shakily sprang in to action. However just as I am about to tap on his window, he pops his indicators on and pulls out nearly running me over! And this is roughly when the stream of verbals began! He denied he was in an accident, refused to give details and was intricate in the comedy moment of inspecting Percy (finally) then deciding having a go at Helen was a bit of a better way to spend his brief moment off the bus. I got Helen in the car and went to put my arm through the window to grab my handbag to give him my card when Helen round up the window, trapping my arm init and not realising! What a kur-fuffal!
Anyway, a telephone call to the police, a call to the insurance people, a call to the bus depot, a call back to the insurance people, and a trip down to Bethnal Green Police station later, Helen and I settled down to a very enjoyable final episode of Kath and Kim starring special guess Kylie!
Two pieces of advice – don’t drive London’s most hated car and don’t organise a staff do – what a headache!
Good news: The offer Helen and I made on the flat was accepted.
Love
Kat xxxx
